8th annual Tejas Triathlon will host up to 800
triathletes for an awesome sprint distance race with a 600 yard swim, 11
mile flat and fast bike, and a shaded 3 mile run.
RACE LOCATION & COURSE
The race will be at Pecan Park in the New
Territory sub-division of Sugar Land, Texas, near the intersection of Hwy 99
and Hwy 90. The man-made lake in New Territory is an ideal setting for
novice triathletes as well as experienced veterans. The water temperature
will be very warm-well above the 78 degree cut-off for wetsuits. The bike
course is flat but windy and leads into a 3 mile shaded loop that ends
underneath 100 year-0ld pecan trees.
NEW ELITE WAVE
We will have an elite wave in 2008, for those
triathletes that want to go up against the best! Athletes entering this wave
will not be eligible for age group awards. This division will start in the
first wave, 1 minute ahead of the first age group wave.

COMPUTER CHIP TIMING & RESULTS
We will have computer chip timing with all split
times, including transitions. Chip fees are included in race
registration fees. Chips will be handed out on race morning and turned in
after crossing the finish line. Participants will not be allowed to use
their own chips because the chip system is completely different. Complete results will be posted at
Runner
Triathlete News, out-loud.org, and
Cadence Sports as soon as possible after
the race.
AWARDS
Awards will be given out to the overall Male and
Female and overall Master's Male and Female. Creative age group awards will
go at least 3 deep and further. Age groups will begin at 14 & under and go
in 5 year increments through 70+. There will be Clydesdale (men over 200
lbs.) and Athena (women over 150 lbs.) weight division awards 5 deep. Relay
awards will go 3 deep in men's, women's, and co-ed categories.
PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT
Three charities will be the recipients of the proceeds from this
event, along with volunteering on the course.

Clear Lake Presbyterian Youth Group -coordinates an
annual mission trip-this year's trip is headed to rural Costa Rica

Girl Scouts of Texas - Several New Territory sub-division
Girl Scout Troops will be coordinating the aid stations on the run and will
receive charity donations.

Center for Student Missions - coordinates inner city missions and
service
trips for youth groups in Houston.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are needed! All will receive a t-shirt
and refreshments.
