The 8th Annual Iron Star Triathlon is the premier half Iron Distance
triathlon in southeast Texas. Our field limit will be 600
participants in 2010. The 1.2 mile swim in Lake Conroe, the 56 mile bike in
scenic Montgomery County, and the 13.1 mile run will take place from the new
La Torretta Del Lago Resort and Spa on Lake Conroe. Come and be a part of this
awesome 8th year event!
LOCATION
La Torretta Del Lago Resort and Spa on Lake Conroe 1 hour north of Houston, in
Montgomery, TX.
COURSE
Swim: 1.2 mile open water lake swim in Lake Conroe. Wave starts,
clock-wise rectangular course, swim cut-off time is 75 minutes. Bike: 56
miles on a circular course, along farm to market roads with limited traffic
on mostly National Forest terrain, with rolling hills. Run: 13.1 miles on
asphalt and paved roads, mostly flat with some rolling hills. Course cut-off time is

WET SUITS
The USA Triathlon guidelines will determine if wet suits will be allowed
for official timing purposes. USAT officials will measure the water
temperature the day before the race. DON'T EMAIL OR CALL ASKING FOR WATER
TEMP OR IF WET SUITS WILL BE ALLOWED-WE WON'T RESPOND B/C WE WON'T KNOW
UNTIL NOVEMBER 7th.
AID STATIONS
Aid stations will be available on the bike ( 3 water bottle hand ups) and
on each mile of the run. Stations will be provided at swim entry and exit
points. Water, Gatorade, energy gels, Endurolytes, and fruit will be
provided along the run course. A medical team will be on hand along with 2
ambulances throughout the day.
LODGING
Lodging is recommended at the La Torretta Del Lago Resort (race site).
Tower suites are $179 per night and 1-2 bedroom cottages are priced TBA.
These rates are available for Friday-Sunday nights if you want to come
early/stay late. If a late check-out is unavailable, complimentary showers
will be available at their fitness center. Other hotels to be added
soon! You can check with the Best Western and Super 8 Motels on Hwy 105.
CHAMPIONCHIP TIMING & RESULTS
Run Wild Timing will provide chip timing with all split
times, including transitions. We will be using the
ChronoTrack RFID - Dtag (Disposal Tag) timing system. The
ChampionChip fees are included in your entry fees. The
disposable chips will be handed out with your race number at
packet pickup. You will not have to return this chip.

AWARDS
Awards will be given to the overall Male and Female and overall Master's
Male and Female. Age group awards will go at least 3 deep (most divisions 5
deep), utilizing USAT 5 year age group divisions. There will be Clydesdale
(men over 200 lbs) and Athena (women over 150 lbs) divisions. Awards will go
3 deep in the relay categories.

Charities selected for benefiting from the Iron Star Triathlon include: Center for Student Missions, Boy Scouts of Montgomery, Montgomery High School Drill Team, Cut n Shoot HOG Chapter, Woodlands HS Triathlon Club, and CLPC Youth
