Du the Bear DuathlonSunday, October 19, 2008, 8:00 amCome enter the 3nd annual "Du the Bear" Duathlon in Houston, Texas located at Bear Creek Park in west Houston!! This 2 mile run, 12 mile bike, 2 mile run is an awesome addition to the Duathlon events in the greater Houston area. This duathlon is co-produced by Outloud! Productions and Bicycle World & Fitness. The start time for the race is set for 8:00 am. New for 2008-this race is part of the Houston Duathlon Championship Series-a 3 race series that will culminate with special series awards for winners and those who complete all 3 events!!!!
RACE LOCATION & COURSE This duathlon will take place at Bear Creek Pioneers Park, located off Bear Creek Drive between Clay Road and Patterson Road. The start and finish will be at Pavilion #6. The start time for the race is at 8:00 am! HOUSTON DUATHLON CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES We are pleased to announce a new duathlon series in Houston. Made up of 3 races-2 Webster Duathlons plus Du the Bear-participants will have the opportunity to gather points in each race to win championship series awards in October at the conclusion of Du the Bear. Register for the Webster Duathlons through Webster Bicycle (races are March and July). All races will be the 2/12/2 format. PACKET PICKUP Packet Pickup will be on the following days:
THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION OR PACKET PICKUP. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR OWN PACKET. AWARDS Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, overall master's male and females, and the top 3 in each age group and relay categories. After Du the Bear Awards, a second awards ceremony will take place for the Houston Duathlon Championship Series-for those who completed all 3 races in the series. There will be awards for overall champions, male and female, plus master's categories. There will be special awards for individuals who complete all 3 races. POST RACE PARTY Bicycle World and Fitness will be sponsoring an awesome post race party with great food and drinks, fantastic give-aways, and super awards! We'll have some great music playing and have a good time under the pavilion! TIMING This will be a computer chip timed event that will include splits for run/transition/bike/transition/run. Chips will be picked up on race morning. SPONSORS Major sponsors include Bicycle World & Fitness, Memorial Athletic club, Momentum BMW, Giant Bicycles, and others to be named later. GOODIE BAGS Goodie Bags will include your race numbers, official race t-shirt, water bottle, hammer gel samples, Baker's Breakfast Cookies, Clif Bar, Snickers Marathon Bar and surprises!
